Education Council

Message from the Chairperson

As Chair of the Education Council of St. Joseph, it is a
pleasure to welcome both new and returning families to the 2018-2019
school year at St. Joseph School.

The role of the Education Council is to maintain the spiritual and
educational purpose and integrity of St. Joseph School. The Chairperson
is appointed to serve the St. Joseph Family for a 2-year term, with the
help of seven other members, each of whom are parents or
guardians of children currently attending the school. In addition, the
most current President of the Home School Association serves on the
Education Council.

Appointed by the Pastor and Principal, the Education Council Members assist
in the governance of St. Joseph School and act as a consultative body to our
Pastor and Principal.  School policies and programs are administered in
accordance with Diocesan regulations.  The Education Council meets monthly
to evaluate and recommend policies under which the school and its various
programs are managed. Strategic planning for the school is an important
function and goal of the Education Council as is budget management under
the direction of the Finance Committee.  This Committee helps to prepare the
annual operating budget and makes recommendations to improve cost effectiveness
and operational efficiency.

Should a matter regarding school policy or programs arise, any parent
or guardian of a student in the school may contact any member of the
Education Council to have his or her concern presented prior to the
monthly meeting. The dates of all monthly meetings are posted on the
school calendar.

Our children are our most valuable gifts, entrusted to us by God. It is
with that trust that we have made a conscious decision to educate them
in an environment in which Jesus is always present.

As a school community, or “school family”, we are called to work together for
the well being of our children. Throughout the school year,
opportunities are given for parents to share their talents with and for
their children, and parental involvement is strongly encouraged on all
levels to ensure the continued success of St. Joseph School. It is with
that in mind that the Education Council serves our St. Joseph School

Warmest Regards,

Dr. Louis Conte
